Furocious
The one thing I never expected to get out of Facebook was the sense of community that has formed around dog rescue (and animal rescue in general). I try to temper my pleas for homeless shelter dogs and lost pets with other fun news and articles, but there’s always a needy hound or fluffy feline needing something that pops up on my ‘wall.’
During the course of my postings, I’ve seen certain names make the rescue rounds every day. These tireless (mostly female, I admit!) rescue warriors do everything from pulling death row dogs from kill-shelters to transporting and fostering, using their own money to pay for surgeries, setting up pledge funds and just generally work ceaselessly to save the lives of our favorite companions.
Now, one of the rescuers, needs rescuing. The home of Brieann Masenior and the site of Ruff Life Rescue (http://www.ruffliferescue.net), was destroyed by a fire this morning. No one was hurt. Helene Scharf of Charlie to the Rescue reported that “Brieann ran into the burning home 3-4 times to make certain all the animals were safely out. Her family can no longer live in the house and all of the furnishing and posessions are totally destroyed.”
FUROCIOUS knows Ruff Life Rescue founder, Brieann, has been there for anyone who needed help with their animals. Now is the time to rescue one of our own. A chip-in to help the family and the shelter dogs left out in the cold has been set up here http://thebeameroo.chipin.com/mypages/view/id/099734356b7e5f4e. Otherwise, donations, gift cards or checks in any denomination can be sent to:

A loss this devastating is particularly cruel around the holidays. FUROCIOUS hopes the community will rally around this family as Brieann has around our furry friends. Thinking about this family this evening and wishing everyone a safe holiday season. High-paw.
