Oscars 2010

I couldn’t agree more with you about the dialogue… if one can even call it that!

Thanks for the shot of Oprah. Herrera is my favorite, but I didn’t stick around to catch this dress. I just couldn’t bear the pain of watching everyone in the audience looking like they were sucking on lemons.

PS I think SJP’s dress needed a little more body underneath it.

Thought the whole Oscar production was a mess this year… in addition to the lame writing, etc. the camera work and sound were just plain awful. I agree with most of your fashion analysis, with the exception of JLo.  Her dress looked good in the photo you showed, but emphasized all the wrong things if you see pictures taken from the left side.  My top three faves were:  Kate Winslet, Queen Latifah, and Sandra Bullock, but my thought at the end of the show was that the fashions seemed bland overall due to the lack of color.  They could easily have saved money by just broadcasting in black and white this year!

I agree on most of your comments.  Steve & Alec were horrible, awkward & embarassing.  Bring back Billy Crystal or Whoopi Goldberg. I still remember when she came in dressed as the “African Queen”! This year’s opening song was void of reason or humor. The extended dance number - weird.  And at the end for Best Picture—the 10 films weren’t even read off.  Idiot man just ripped open the envelope and read the winner.

I totally agree with you on Sandra Bullock, Queen Latifah, Helen Mirren, Tina Fey, Oprah, and Meryl Streep as looking beautiful & elegant.

Kate Winslet’s outfit was okay, not fabulous like the others.
Jennifer Lopez’s dress was a lovely color and the bodice cut was wonderful but the mass on her left hip looked like she had double-sided tape on her dress & sidled up to someone else’s dress, stuck & ripped it off of them.  A HUGE mess in my book.
Penelope Cruz’s dress was a gorgeous bold color (and she can carry it off) but the asymmetrical bodice didn’t work for me.  It made her look lopsided.
Zoe Saldana - Boo! Ick!
Sarah Jessica Parker’s—Though I know better, I would have thought she was allowing for a baby bump in that dress.  Thought it was awful on her.
Charlize Theron - bad color, bad placing of roses
Mariah Carey - as alway, a mess
Kathyn Bigelow - I thought she had a lovely dress and wore it well.  I think her being in a complete state of shock, possibly causing her to breathe oddly might have been an issue with how the dress looked at moments.  Yes, she could have done better with her hair.

It was a very predictable and at some moments, very embarassing Oscar night.  Not one of the best years….

Who needs to watch the boring Oscar ceremony when we have GG to tell us all we need to know with style and grace.  I’m not watching again until new writers and producers are in the mix.  Dreadful show!  Thanks for making it all better this morning.

Did not like SJP’s dress. Although it was couture, it looked like it was wearing her and she didn’t seem comfortable in it at all. Loved the red lippie on Sandra Bullock. Thought Cameron Diaz looked better than she’s ever looked. But hated some of the hair styles. Very unkempt.

it would be a dream just to try on those dresses.

i agree about bigelow’s hair. it’s like wearing flip flops with your gown. bullock’s, at least, seemed “on purpose.”

I’m totally with you on Penélope—I would wear that dress, definitely.  It’s gorgeous, and sexy without being vulgar, and it fits her perfectly.

Not loving SJP’s Chanel—she’s too tiny a woman to wear something that voluminous, I think.

Queen Latifah’s posture is the key to her great look, in my opinion.  She carries herself with such pride and dignified vanity, something many of us could learn a thing or two about.  Vanity is not all bad, folks!

Speaking of which, yes, yes, some deep scarlet lipstick on Tina Fey would’ve made all the difference, because the dress itself is lovely.

Great line-up, GG!
