Vasarri—Retirement/Store Closing Sale

One of the premiere shops in the Baltimore area—Vasarri in Pikesville—is going out of business.  After 12 years, owner and shopkeeper extraordinaire Gail Kandel is retiring.

And to thank her customers and bid adieu, she is offering a knock-out liquidation sale beginning Wednesday, August 25th, at 9 a.m.  Yep, you heard that right—9 in the morning.  Until 7 that night.  Thereafter, the store will be open during its normal hours.  (Closed Monday/Tuesday Aug 23/24 to allow the staff to prepare.)  Prices will be 30% to 70% off.  Everything—clothes, jewelry, accessories, you name it.

As I’ve written about before, Vasarri is so spectacular a store, not even the ritzy emporia of Washington can hold a candle to it.  In fact, many women from DC come here to shop.  I’ll never forget searching frantically for a formal gown for an event back in 2003 and coming up empty-handed.  Finally, a woman at Nordstrom took pity on me and recommended Vasarri.  I’d never heard of it.  So off I went.  And my life changed.

Since then, Gail and her superlative staff have outfitted me in unparalleled gowns, suits, cocktail dresses, and shoes.  I’m not exaggerating when I say that the beaded ivory silk Stephen Yearick I bought there and wore to the Washington National Opera Ball was Oscar-worthy.  And it’s thanks to Gail that I went for it instead of some ho-hum, standard-fare ballgown.

Show Gail and Vasarri some love, and pick up some tremendous bargains along the way—again, the sale starts Wednesday, August 25th.

(Oh, and the name, which people always ask about, is a tribute to Renaissance artist and historian Giorgio Vasari.)
