These images are amazing! I am so glad you saw the beauty and value in them. As I drive in the city and look up at one of these old advertisements, I think of how lucky I am to get a glimpse of the past and thank someone for not tearing it down like everything else is these days. Thank you for your lovely eye and btw-these pictures certainly look to be from a professionals lens, not an amateur. You are very talented indeed.

If you like looking at flowers, gardens and yard art of the area that have been neglected and/or taken for granted, please visit this blog: http://neglectedbeauty.blogspot.com/

A eye for beauty in any form is a gift. Thank you, again.

LaShelle -

Congrats on the great article and your recognition!

I too have been attempting to capture ghost signs (and others) here in Philadelphia ever since I made a senior thesis project out of some of them at university. I’ve been slowly mapping them and attempting to cross reference them with historical photos on my blog, called “The Philadelphia Ghost Signage Project”:

I’ve posted a link to this article there, as well as on the accompanying Twitter account:

Some selections from my work will be shown this February at the PRIMER Microstudio in Hatboro, just outside of Philadelphia:

Keep up the good work!

The article is GREAT !!, But,anybody who knows Ms. Bynum, wouldn’t call her an “Amateur.” She has not only has she done a exhibit at the Enoch Pratt, but two at the Eubie Blake center as well. She possess a beautiful body of work not only in her “Ghost Signs.”

What a really wonderful article! I wasn’t sure if anyone else cared about all the ghost signs in this town like I do. I set up a blog, http://bmore.colinmford.com/ to help keep track of the wonderful signs in this city. In our flickr group, http://www.flickr.com/groups/bmoretype/ , we even keep up a map of where we find them.
