Started off the week with a media happy hour at Sullivan’s Steakhouse downtown. Mitchell Schmale from Maroon PR organized it to introduce new Sullivan’s GM Pedro Gonzalez. Other local media peeps on hand included Julekha Dash, Keith Mills, Reagan Warfield, Patti Neumann and Dave Carberry. I got to meet some of the Sullivan’s corporate staff, including regional manager Shang Skipper and director of social media Benson Kelsey. I used to spend quite a few Thursdays at the Sullivan’s happy hour— I’ll need to get back into that habit.
On Thursday evening, I made my way to the beautiful gardens at Evergreen House for their first Alice’s Wonderland Garden Party, to benefit the Evergreen Museum & Library. 200+ folks were elegantly turned out, complete with hats (and I mean everybody). Spent the evening chatting with Claudia Bizmark, Mark Letzer, Rosalie Parker, Sylvia Parker, Tracy Watson and Mr. & Mrs. Winston Tabb from JHU. It was a perfect evening in a beautiful spot— congrats on a great event.
And on Friday, I joined an invited group for a luncheon in the rear garden at One-Eyed Mike’s in Fells Point for the stateside introduction of Grand Marnier ‘Quintessence.’ One-Eyed Mike’s pours more Grand Marnier annually than any other establishment, so Grand Marnier master distiller Patrick Raguenaud was on hand from France to talk about this new, ultra high-end liqueur (only 2,000 bottles are currently available worldwide). We had a tasting of several blends of GM, then sat down to a 5-course luncheon, which was excellent. Across the table from me was Jess Blumberg from Baltimore magazine, and seated next to me was Dae Chang, wine manager at Fleming’s. I also talked with Mark Freeman the regional manager for Moet Hennessy USA, who was in town for the tasting.
