On Monday evening, I joined a smartly dressed group of folks on the patio at the Oregon Grille for a kick-off cocktail party for the new custom Lilly Pulitzer-designed scarves that benefit our National Aquarium downtown. Over some refreshing mojitos, I chatted with fellow BARCS volunteer Jenn Carle (who has been patiently awaiting the scarves to go on sale for weeks), Sally Rich, Brent Whitaker, director of animal health at the Aquarium, Jayme Stern, and owner Ted Bauer. The scarves, which Lilly Pulitzer designed specifically for the Aquarium, use octopus shapes to create a paisley pattern, and will be a limited edition of 500. Many got snapped up at the cocktail party, so act fast if you want one— go to tinyurl.com/cmnrzo for STYLE Glamour Girl’s take on the scarf.
On Tuesday night, I met up with a small group that included PR whiz Todd Yuhanick, writer Christianna McCausland, interactive guru Billy Twigg, and Cupcake boutique owner Lisa Schatz for a 10-course sampling menu at Langermann’s at The Can Co. in Canton. Chef Neal Langermann personally served up apps (including pimiento cheese on crostini and petite lump crabcake sliders), then followed by chilled gazpacho, tuna & crab tartar on seaweed salad, sea scallops over heirloom grits, heirloom tomatoes & BLT, espresso and herb-roasted beef tenderloin with cheddar potato gratin and asparagus, banana splits and fresh local berries with cream. Wow! Lots of food, and all of it excellent. Plus, these are all regular items you’ll find on the menu there. There were some great wine pairings for each course (Kung Fu Girl riesling and Infamous Goose sauvignon blanc were my faves), too.
