Get Creative
RiverView Gallery is the town’s newest creative outlet, exhibiting a range of works by regional artists. Along with the hanging works, from oils to watercolors to charcoals and acrylics, are non-traditional creations, such as the rolled-fabric dolls by Virginia-based fiber artist Julie Booth. We dug the black-and-white pieces Havre de Grace photographer James Craig, whose moody snaps of Acadia National Park were on exhibit when we visited. 224 N. Washington St. 410-939-6401.

Blasts from the Past
Take to the ever-changing aisles of Bayside Antiques for a walk down memory lane. (When’s the last time you saw a pair of debutante-length white leather gloves or a transistor radio?) While we found the disco-inspired, high-heel platforms pretty groovy (they were sure to go quickly), our more practical side gravitated to the display of graceful glass vases in shades of Caribbean blue, ideal vessels for summertime posies. 230 N. Washington St. 410-939-9397.

Sugar and Spice and Everything Nice
Chocoholics will be sweet on Bomboy’s Homemade Candy, which makes more than a hundred types of confections, from peanut butter fudge (made on the premises) to Grand Marnier truffles and colorful hard candies. Sweet tooth still not sated? Stop in Bomboy’s Ice Cream Shop across the street for a scoop of their house specialty: Duck, Duck, Goose, a luscious blend of swirled caramel and chocolate-covered nuts. 329 Market St. 410-939-2924 or http://www.bomboyscandy.com.

Not Too Shabby
The shabby chic craze is alive and well at The House Downtown, home to vintage-style, floral-patterned furnishings, from overstuffed sofas to smocked curtains and bedding. Gracious gifts include tin clocks, a wide selection of The Thymes bath products in earthy scents, and coral- and toile-textured Cavallini & Co. stationery. We cozied up to the Pine Cone Hill PJs, available in a variety of playful patterns and colors, and the washable Dash & Albert cotton floor mats, a simple (and affordable) way to bring a dose of summertime style to a beach house. 101 N. Washington St. 410-939-1600 or http://www.thehousedowntown.com.

Sail Away in Style
Sort of a sailor’s one-stop-shop, Tidewater Marine Outfitters sells everything from his and hers fashions by Columbia and Sperry to nautical maps to bilge pumps. After a hard day’s regatta, check out the lounge area, even if doggy’s in tow: It’s complete with dog biscuits and serve-yourself coffee and tea—and a killer view of the river. 203 Market St. 410-939-0950 or http://www.tidewatermarina.com.
Puttin’ on the Ritz
Crab salad for breakfast? Why not! At the Havre de Grace Ritz Gourmet Cafe, a petite high-end deli specializing in comfort food, every dish is available at breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Specialties of the house include crab-stuffed portobello mushrooms and Reubens prepared three different ways; the most popular is named “The Aaron,” after owner Stephanie Anderson’s son, and is loaded with turkey, pastrami, and corned beef. Don’t miss the mousse dessert specials, including raspberry Bavarian, toffee, and lemon Charlotte, complete with a dollop of all-natural meringue on top. 100 N. Washington St. 410-939-5858 or http://www.havredegracethemeetingplace.com.
