Good Dog Smell Test

A colleague gave me a new product to try today from Hillhouse Naturals: Good Dog odor neutralizing diffuser.  Immediately, I loved the fact that Hillhouse Naturals is an environmentally conscious company and the packaging was printed with 100% wind power. And with a couple of key tag lines like “100% Natural Tail Waging Good” and “Experience the calming scent of lavender, amber and vanilla,” I thought I’d give it a go.

Of course with two dogs, a cat and a husband, I’m sure my home could use an odor neutralizing diffuser—although most pet owners become immune to the pet smells of their own home.  My mother is usually my pet smell-tester; each time she visits, I ask “does the house smell like dogs?”  I will always picture her face as a kid when she’d say, “That house smells like dog,” with a curled upper lip which spoke volumes of its own.  She and my dad happen to be coming in for a visit in two weeks so the new diffuser arrived at just the right time to do its job.

Since the combination of lavender, amber and vanilla smell great to me, I decided to do the smell-test on the dogs and my husband. Interesting response from the dogs: Ryder, the 12 year old was okay with it; however, Tahoe, the blind 13.5 year old, well, not so much - it sent him walking in circles trying to get out of my home office as fast as he could.  Oh, well.  If it makes my Mom happy, then I don’t have to worry about people leaving my house with that curled upper lip.
