New Beach Eats for Summer 2009
We’ve just returned from our annual springtime ritual in search of new shops and restaurants at the Delaware and Maryland seashores. You’ll be able to read all about them in our July/August issue, but for now, here’s a sample of what to look forward to:
1. The “All-New” Atlantic Hotel. Berlin’s grand dame gets a much-needed facelift—and a lovely new restaurant.
2. Bethany Blues heads north and opens a second outpost along Route 1 in Lewes. Same tasty BBQ, plus nearly 100 bourbons at the bar.
3. From the folks who brought you Rehoboth’s popular Pig & Fish, comes The Pickled Pig Pub. Look for creative pub fare, microbrews, and wines.
4. Salt Air Kitchen in Rehoboth promises to be big this summer, with a reasonably priced menu featuring locally sourced ingredients. From the creators behind Fusion and Solstice.
5. Last but not least, we sampled some of the best donuts we’ve had at Pop-Pop’s Donuts, a bright and cheery outpost at 4 W. First Street in Rehoboth. All the donuts are served hot—and you get to pick the glazes and toppings. Yum.
